The SMC MGPM50TF50AZ is the air-cushion version of this 50 mm bore, 50 mm stroke guide cylinder, and SMC lists it under a separate 'With Air Cushion' series with its own MGP50-AZ-PS seal kit. It is used where end-of-stroke impact must be absorbed pneumatically rather than by a fixed stop, such as high-cycle transfer, heavier tooling plates, and faster indexing moves. The cushion reduces shock, noise and wear at both ends, extending service life on machines that would otherwise hammer the end caps.
