SMC EX250SPR1 Serial Interface Unit — PROFIBUS DP SI unit, 32/32 I/O. SMC EX250-SPR1 is a PROFIBUS-DP serial interface (SI) unit for the EX250 integrated input/output fieldbus system used with SMC valve manifolds. As a PROFIBUS-DP slave it controls up to 32 solenoid valve outputs and, with EX250 input blocks, handles up to 32 inputs (I/O occupation 32/32). PROFIBUS-DP version DP-V0; communication speeds 9.6 k to 12 Mbps (auto-detected). Output is Source/PNP (negative common); valve load 24 VDC, 1.5 W or less. Enclosure IP67. Configured via the SMC GSD file. Connects SMC directional-control valve manifolds (VQC, SV, SY, S0700) as a reduced-wiring node. Note: the EX250 series / EX250-SPR1 is discontinued; SMC recommends the EX600 series as a substitute.

EX250-SPR1 Applications

Head unit that puts an EX250 valve manifold onto a PROFIBUS-DP network, driving up to 32 valve outputs and consolidating up to 32 sensor inputs (via input blocks) onto one bus cable to the PLC. IP67 rating allows machine-side mounting in dusty or washdown areas. Commission by loading the SMC GSD file and setting the node address. As EX250-SPR1 is discontinued, plan EX600-series equivalents for new builds while servicing existing installations.
