SMC EX240IE1 Input Unit — Digital input (DI) unit, 8 inputs. SMC EX240-IE1 is a digital input (DI) unit for the EX240 serial transmission fieldbus system used with SMC valve manifolds. It provides 8 input points and connects to the EX240 SI/gateway unit (e.g. EX240-SIB1), receiving sensor signals and passing them to the network. Up to 8 DI units can be connected to the SI unit, with a maximum communication cable length of 400 m; the system supports up to 32 input points total. Input device supply is 24 VDC via M12 connectors. Enclosure IP65/IP67 class per the EX240 series. The EX240-IE1 works with SMC directional-control valve manifolds as part of a reduced-wiring input/output node.

EX240-IE1 Applications

Adds sensor input capability to an EX240 reduced-wiring valve-manifold node, letting field sensors report back to the PLC over the same serial network that drives the solenoid valves. The 8-point EX240-IE1 daisy-chains to the EX240 SI/gateway; multiple DI units expand input capacity toward the 32-point system maximum. Suited to machines needing distributed I/O near pneumatic actuators without running individual sensor wires back to the controller.
