Single acting spring return means the rod returns automatically when air is removed, giving a defined fail-safe home position on air loss. That behaviour suits short-stroke clamping, part hold-down, marking and stamping, and simple stopper or blocker duties on conveyors, where the cylinder must retract on emergency stop. Only one air line and a 3-port valve are needed, simplifying piping. Note the higher 0.13 MPa minimum operating pressure: supply air must overcome the return spring before the rod will move.
