SMC CDQ2B2010TZ Compact Air Cylinder — 20mm bore, 10mm stroke, single acting spring extend. SMC CDQ2B20-10TZ is a CQ2-Z series compact air cylinder with a 20 mm bore and a 10 mm standard stroke. It is single acting, spring extend, single rod, with a through-hole (B) mounting style and a built-in magnet for auto switch position sensing. Air retracts the rod and the internal spring extends it, so the cylinder fails to the extended position on loss of air. The body option is standard, giving a rod end female thread of M5 x 0.8. The Z suffix denotes the auto switch mounting groove, machined on 2 surfaces on bores 12 to 25 mm. Ports are M5 x 0.8 and the piston rod diameter is 10 mm. Operating medium is air, with a proof pressure of 1.5 MPa and a maximum operating pressure of 1.0 MPa. Being single acting, the minimum operating pressure is 0.18 MPa at 20 mm bore, substantially higher than the 0.05 MPa of the double acting version, because the air must overcome the spring. Spring reaction force at the 10 mm stroke is 27 N compressed and 5.9 N as set in the cylinder. Piston speed range is 50 to 500 mm/s, lubrication is not required (non-lube), and the ambient and fluid temperature range is -10 to 60 C with the auto switch magnet fitted. Stroke length tolerance is +1.0 / 0 mm and allowable kinetic energy is 0.055 J. Theoretical output at 0.5 MPa is 91 N retracting.

CDQ2B20-10TZ Applications

A spring extend compact cylinder is used where the rod must drive out automatically if air pressure is lost, giving a fail-extended state useful on hold-down clamps, spring-applied stops, blockers and safety detents. Air is applied to retract the rod, so only one air line and one valve port are required. The through-hole mount lets the body bolt flush through a plate, and the built-in magnet supports auto switches in the machined groove. Supply at least 0.18 MPa to overcome the spring.
