SMC CD85N16160CB Mini Air Cylinder — 16 mm bore, 160 mm stroke, double acting, air cushion (C) instead of rubber bumper, band-mount auto switch. SMC CD85N16-160C-B is a C85 series ISO 6432 round-body mini air cylinder with a 16 mm bore and 160 mm stroke, specified with the C suffix for air cushion. Air cushioning is offered only on the N (basic / integral clevis) mounting and bore sizes 10 to 25 mm, and raises the allowable kinetic energy to 0.4 J versus 0.09 J for the rubber bumper version. The cylinder is double acting, single rod, with a built-in magnet (D) so band-mounted auto switches (B) can be used. Fluid is air, maximum operating pressure 1.0 MPa, proof pressure 1.5 MPa, and piston speed 50 to 1500 mm/s. Ambient and fluid temperature is -20 to 80 degC, limited to -10 to 60 degC by the built-in magnet. Piston rod diameter is 6 mm with an M6 x 1 rod thread and M5 x 0.8 ports. Lubrication is not required. Conforms to ISO 6432 and CETOP RP52P.

Choose the air-cushioned version where a 160 mm stroke is run at higher speed or with more moving mass, so the piston must be decelerated smoothly at each end of travel. The adjustable cushion raises allowable kinetic energy to 0.4 J, cutting impact noise and mechanical shock on transfer arms, ejectors, pushers and lifting mechanisms. The built-in magnet supports band-mounted auto switches for position confirmation and PLC interlocking in packaging and assembly automation.
